A Parent’s Guide to Braces and Invisalign

One of the questions we are asked the most from parents is: “Which is better for children: Braces or Invisalign?”

So much depends on each child and their specific needs. That’s why at Berkshire Orthodontics we prioritize spending time with you and listening to your needs and goals. It is what helps us land on the best possible treatment plan for each child who comes to see us.

At Berkshire Orthodontics, we are excited to offer LightForce custom braces, a modern advancement in traditional braces that combines the reliability of braces with cutting-edge technology. Unlike standard braces, LightForce brackets are 3D-printed and fully customized for each individual tooth, allowing for more precise tooth movement from day one.

For patients and parents, this customization often means shorter treatment times, fewer adjustments, and a more comfortable overall experience. Because each bracket is designed specifically for your child’s smile, LightForce braces can be more efficient and gentle than traditional systems. They’re also clear, making them a great option for kids and teens who want a lower-profile look without the responsibility that comes with aligners.

On the other hand, clear aligners are an excellent alternative for patients who are good at keeping to a schedule. Plus, the list of foods to avoid while in treatment is much smaller. The aligners are removed for brushing so they’re also a great choice if you know that effective brushing is already an issue.  It’s harder to reach those nooks and crannies when brackets and wires are in place.
